A novel score-level fusion strategy based on Bayesian adaptation for user-dependent multimodal biometric authentication is presented. In the proposed method, the fusion function is adapted for each user based on prior information extracted from a pool of users. Experimental results are reported using on-line signature and fingerprint verification subsystems on the MCYT real bimodal database. The proposed scheme outperforms both user-independent and user-dependent standard approaches. As compared to non-adapted user-dependent fusion, relative improvements of 80% and 55% are obtained for small and large training set sizes, respectively.  相似文献

Although color has appeal for developers and consumers alike, color reproduction poses a major problem in many computer based applications including multimedia and desktop publishing. The problem arises because of the device-independence of color, and the way each device processes color. Matching the appearance of monitor and print images, and achieving satisfactory results is complex. Not only are there fundamental differences between computer screen (additive) and printers (subtractive), but subtractive color is in general more prone to errors due to dye inadequacies. In order to control the error in porting color, different techniques have been applied. In this paper, the utilization of artificial neural networks as well as abductive modeling approaches to color error reduction are introduced from an RGB (Red Green Blue) color model perspective. Analysis of the results and on-going research issues are discussed.  相似文献

The authors used sequential analysis to examine specific interaction patterns between physically abusive mothers and their children following episodes of noncompliance and compliance. Fifteen abusive and 15 nonabusive, low-risk mother-child dyads were observed, and their behaviors were coded for specific interactions. The children in the study ranged in age from 2 to 6 years. Results indicated that after noncompliance occurred, physically abusive mothers were more likely than nonabusive mothers to respond negatively and give another command. When child compliance occurred, there were no group differences in the likelihood of praising their children's prosocial behavior, but physically abusive mothers were less likely than nonabusive mothers to engage in other forms of positive behavior (e.g., positive touch) after compliance. Described in this paper is the development of a room temperature electroless copper seed layer deposition process on ultra-thin TiN barrier layers. This novel process is compatible with damascene interlevel metal structures for sub-0.18 micron ULSI processes. An optimum copper layer thickness of 50 nm and a deposition rate of 45 nm min−1 was targeted and obtained. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) reveals that the non-uniformity of the seed layer is less than 10% of the film thickness, while four-point probe measurements indicate that the resistivity of the copper seed layer is less than 6 μΩ cm−1. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) reveals that potential metallic contaminants such as sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium ions do not penetrate the TiN barrier layer. Rutherford back scattering (RBS) indicates that the palladium concentration in the seed layer is approximately 1%, which is low enough to avoid wafer contamination and increased resistivity in the subsequent electroplated copper layer.  相似文献

Iterative saturation mutagenesis (ISM) is a promising approach to more efficient directed evolution, especially for enhancing the enantioselectivity and/or thermostability of enzymes. This was demonstrated previously for an epoxide hydrolase (EH), after five sets of mutations led to a stepwise increase in enantioselectivity. This study utilizes these results to illuminate the nature of ISM, and identify the reasons for its operational efficacy. By applying a deconvolution strategy to the five sets of mutations and measuring the enantioselectivity factors (E) of the EH variants, DeltaDeltaG( not equal) values become accessible. With these values, the construction of the complete fitness-pathway landscape is possible. The free energy profiles of the 5!=120 evolutionary pathways leading from the wild-type to the best mutant show that 55 trajectories are energetically favored, one of which is the originally observed route. This particular pathway was analyzed in terms of epistatic effects operating between the sets of mutations at all evolutionary stages. The degree of synergism increases as the stepwise evolutionary process proceeds. When encountering a local minimum in a disfavored pathway, that is, in the case of a dead end, choosing another set of mutations at a previous stage puts the evolutionary process back on an energetically favored trajectory. The type of analysis presented here might be useful when evaluating other mutagenesis methods and strategies in directed evolution.  相似文献

We describe a wet process for the fabrication of poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE)-covered electrodes in which arrays of holes ( approximately 200 microm) are formed. The PTFE coating provides electrical insulation of most of the electrode surface with selected regions exposed for electrochemical experiments. The arrays of microholes can be controllably patterned and filled with precursor solutions using a piezoelectric dispenser. A micrometer spot of electrocatalyst is produced after reduction of the precursor. The application is tested for scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) in the tip generation-substrate collection (TG-SC) studies of electrocatalysts. The method is shown to reduce the substrate background currents that are included in the electrochemical signal read from the local perturbation induced with the SECM tip to the substrate in the TG-SC mode of SECM. This background current reduction is consistent with the decrease in the exposed area of the electrode. The general methodology for the fabrication of the substrate electrodes and two proof-of-concept applications in the TG-SC SECM modality are described.  相似文献

Wireless IPTV (Internet Protocol TeleVision) aims to make the traditional IPTV and related services available to users anywhere, anytime, on any device, and through any network. Mobile streaming TV is one of the alternatives to deploy such a system; others are DVB-H or MediaFLO. In this paper we propose an alternative CDN-based architecture to distribute contents to different access networks, in order to create a triple screen platform. The core elements of the system are the video streamers, acting as surrogates of the mobile CDN-based architecture, installed in the access networks (including mobile), and the transcoding servers in the premises of the content providers. The paper focused on the wireless part of the system, analyzing the architecture and performance results related with the video coding and the efficiency obtained due to the placement of the streaming servers. The system has been deployed by a Spanish media company for its use with different Telcos, ISPs and media companies.  相似文献

Nonlinear H -control is extended to discontinuous mechanical systems with degree of underactuation one, where nonlinear phenomena such as Coulomb friction and backlash are considered. The problem in question is to design a feedback controller via output measurements so as to obtain the closed-loop system in which all trajectories are locally ultimate bounded, and the underactuated link is regulated to a desired position while also attenuating the influence of external perturbations and nonlinear phenomena. It is considered that positions are the only measurements available for feedback in the system. Performance issues of the discontinuous H -regulation controller are illustrated in an experimental study made for a rectilinear plant with friction modified to have a gap in the point of contact between bodies.  相似文献

This paper describes a set of tools that allows a developer to instrument a C/C++ program to log data at run-time and then analyze that data to verify correct behavior. The logging tools provide the developer with a means to log a variety of different data to a variety of different outputs. They also allow for synchronized logging of data from distributed programs. One logging output option is an SQL database. We have developed a set of analysis tools that retrieve data from the database to answer common developer questions. The analysis tools use an interval temporal logic to frame database queries. The data logging tools are fully implemented and performance results are given in this paper. The data analysis tools are currently being tested on data from real NASA applications.  相似文献
